updatehi guys.
Happy Chinese New Year!
haha.tot i should update this. anyway,im back in Singapore! Home sweet home! came back on the 2nd.
anyway. i miss all you guys and look forward to meet up with you!
Pearleen orange squashok. its official. we have to move out. out of room 216. into room 215. 215- yong jun's room is quite dirty and messy. but why doesnt he need to move out? coz theres a big and heavy washing machine in the room. so its not worth the effort and time to move the machine out and back again just for customers to stay in it. why we have to move out? coz theres a VERY large group coming in. aroung 170 pax. total capacity in the resort? 48 rooms times 3 bed each minus 1 room equals 141 beds. so the resort can accomodate 141 people, how about the remaining people? they will be staying in the villages' "hotel" very close by to the resort. mm... so it will be 2 veri busy days starting from tomorrow. so thats the reason why we have to move out. now back to moving in to room 215. did a housekeeping of the room today. change bedsheets. got extra pillows, quilt covers. the room is really small with the 4 of us squeezing. our luggage fill up almost 3/4 of the walking space we have in the room. understand what i mean? laptops in the middle. that's my bed on the left. will be sharing the bed with Denise. the guys will be taking the other 2 beds. cardboard bursting with all our clothes.
my room!!! so nice ah. the staff did housekeeping. will be away from this room for 3 days..sobs...
bye bye speak good english campaignhaven been blogging for many days or weeks since Christmas... not that im busy, just kind of lazy to blog. it has been 5 days and counting in year 08, the year of the rat, which also means that im have reached the last stage of my attachment! woo hoo! less than a month to go... back to Uniquely Singapore Island. back to Bukit Panjang, Petir Road please.. hehe have been speaking Mandarin for the past 5months. i realised that my spoken English has deteriorated. was talking to Kevin, my OIAP mate something about the heater thingy.. haha... couldnt get the sentence out correctly. "She call yest?..... bout the breakfast?.... forgotten what i wanted to say... whatever the case, it wasnt a proper sentence. my mind was kind of blank, its like i cant find the word that i want to say in my brain. thats a problem when you stay in China for too long. you lose touch of your regular spoken language. Its ok if you speak mandarin normally, but i speak English in SG as its kind of weird for me. thinking i can improve my mandarin when im here instead my English has weaken. haiz.. so guys, when im back in SG, and you hear me speaking in Mandarin, dun be surprised and if i speak broken English, please bare with it.. haha.. give me some transition time to adapt before im back to myself again. hehe.. anyway... it was a quiet new year celebration this year, there was not much a buzz in Guilin. no year end parties or fireworks unlike Shanghai or Beijing or Taiwan, but come to think of it, this is Guilin. Its quite an oolu place if you ask anyone. Most of the people do not know where Guilin is. By the way, if you don't noe, Guilin is located in Guangxi Autonomous Region. The capital is namely Nanning. I mean i too didnt noe where Guilin was until I researched on the place. It has its fair share of modern stuff. Guilin is known for their mountains and scenic areas.. if you like nature , this is THE place to come. not forgetting to make a visit to Guilin Adventure Spa Resort, situated 80km from the city. you can either join a tour or take the public transport to come here and visit me! do so quickly.. coz im leaving Guilin soon... haha... :) on road back.back to resort at the foot of Mount Kitty. the highest mountain in Southwest China. it has been a relaxing and fruitful trip to Guilin and Yangshou. This was our itinerary:
Day 1: Reach Guilin in the afternoon
Day 2: Yangshou afternoon. Christmas Eve
Day 3: Go back to Guilin
Day 4: Back to resort. Reach at 6pm. Drizzling.
bus ride to Yangshou. the tourist paradise in Guilin!
bus not fully filled, so left my haversack on the opposite seat. bought "Kao Lat".dunno whats the english name to it. maybe its called dates?! Yup. thats it below. sold in SG also, $5 for 500g. its sold here, everywhere. and i mean everywhere. there can be more than 5 stalls selling this on the same street. ranging from RMB$6.8, RMB$7.8 and RMB$10 for 1 jin. 1 jin which is equivalent to 500g. so cheap!! Bought RMB$4 of the RMB6.8 range of Kao Lat. One thing that is frustrating when eating this is that your hands will be sore after peeling the shell. esp when some seems to be stuck to the shell, you can take ages to peel them apart. my fingers esp my left thumb more so over I just cut my nails, so it hurt even more. probably someone can invent a tool like a "Kao Lat Shell Opener"?! theres a prawn peeler because some human beings think peeling a prawn is troublesome, this can be included too! it will definitely help! or maybe sell a shell-less Kao Lat instead, easier to eat.
oh. i did mentioned that i was at a cafe when i arrived at Yangshou rite? this was what i had at Cafe MC. Blues. 1 chocolate banana milk shake and a fruit salad. the milk shake was so thick. you can taste the banana bits in it as you drink. not bad, but its fattening. calories.... haha fruit salad was normal. i expected a more variety of fruits since its RMB$20. its quite ex for this kind of potion. theres apple, china pear, banana, and water melon. no dragon fruit. no honey dew. rock melon?
dressing was provided separately. a saucer full of tar tar sauce. got a teeney weeney bit of it when trying it. after which it was left there. nope. no touching. fruits alone without salad sauce taste good too. Total: RMB$40. = S$8. Ok. maybe you may think its reasonable in any cafe in SG. but its quite ex i must say! hehe. was using com at the cafe. provides free Internet wireless access. i think all cafes and shops provide wireless access. Thats the advantage being in Yangshou. Surfing the net will not be a speed of a tortoise. looking through my cam memory card. i realised that i didnt take a pic of the Christmas decorations or lightings in Yanghshou. haha. but its not like its better than SG's Orchard Road. but it has its fair share.but nevertheless i managed to take a video of a group singing carols. a mixture of chinese and whites. probably expats in Yangshou. cant seem to insert video directly. must use a third party website eg. Youtube, Metacafe. ill try it tomorrow. peace out eve~~here i am in Yangshou!
just arrive after taking an hour or two bus ride rom Guilin. reached here at about 4.30pm. am now sitting at a cafe. haha.. just now when we landed on ground zero, we were "harassed" by a group of ladies. they were like asking us if we need any lodging, they can provide at very affordable prices, go and see the place, its ok if you dun want to stay at the end. haha... okok.. we know that. but we have already gotten our lodging, got a local friend to book for us 2 rooms.. ok..no time now.. going to check in to our rooms now..
